Evidence Report for Composite Elements
Overview
An Evidence Report is created for piece of experimental evidence
for a composite element. Click here
for a review of composite elements.
Please note: Composite Element Evidence
Reports are only available for BKL subscribers who have licensed
the TRANSFAC module.
Each Evidence Report is similarly organized and comprises
different blocks for properties curated and references cited in the
Report. Evidence Reports may be accessed through the Compel Reports.
Anatomy of an Evidence Report
The general structure of an Evidence Report is described
below.
- Access help by clicking the help menu and clicking the Evidence report help
link.
- Navigate to the desired section of the report by opening the
table of contents
Points of navigation within the report are indicated by the
following visual cues.
- Links to additional reports within the BKL are presented as
regular text links.
- Links to external resources are indicated by a blue bubble,
such as the PubMedID link shown here: .
- Links to display additional text within the page are indicated
by a yellow bubble, such as the show abstract link shown
here: .
Evidence Information |
Describes the characteristics of the evidence for a composite
element. |
|
Composite element |

Experiment Type |
Describes the type of experiment performed to determine the
existence of the composite element. Click here to see the possible types of
experiments that appear in this block. |
Conclusion of the experiment |
Describes the conclusion drawn from the experiment. Click here to see the possible types of
experiments that appear in this block. |
Source of experimental materials |
Identifies the materials (tissue, cell line) used in the
experiment. |
Site 1 |
|
Binding site location |
Identifies the location of a site within the composite element
where an individual transcription factor binds. |
Binding factor |
Identifies the transcription factor that binds the interaction site
mentioned in the block above. |
Factor's DNA Binding Domain |
Indicates the DNA binding domain involved in the interaction
between the transcription factor and the site within the composite
element described above. Click here for a list of abbreviations
for DNA Binding Domains. |
Regulatory Effect of factor binding |
Describes the effect, activation or repression, of the interaction
between the transcription factor and the site within the composite
element described above. |
Comments regarding the experiment |
Provides additional information about the interaction. Comments are
free-text additions made by curators to clarify details in the
Report. |
Site 2 |
|
Binding site location |
Identifies the location of another site within the composite
element where another transcription factor binds. |
Binding factor |
Identifies the transcription factor that binds the interaction site
mentioned in the block above. |
Factor's DNA Binding Domain |

between the transcription factor and the site within the composite
element described above. Click here for a list of abbreviations
for DNA Binding Domains. |
Regulatory Effect of factor binding |

between the transcription factor and the site within the composite
element described above |

This block gives the full citations, with titles, that correspond
to the PubMed identifiers displayed. When a PubMed identifier is
not available, the Medline identifier is displayed. When neither a
PubMed nor Medline identifier is available, a BIOBASE-specific
number is assigned preceded by a "P". Nearly all of the reference
numbers are hyperlinked to the Entrez database where the abstracts
may be read. All references cited in the annotations and properties
section are listed, and other references known to contain
information about the protein may also be listed. The first five
references are shown, click [ more ...] to view all
references. View abstracts via webservice, by additionally clicking
the [+] which appears. |
